Chase the Brace!

Book a three night stay at Felin Newydd in August or September and weather permitting we will allow you to experience the infamous Chase the Brace excursion on Hay Bluff. A morning's walked up Grouse shooting for 7 guns give or take - not for the faint hearted at all. If you look at our activities page you will catch a glimpse of Charlie and Rez taking it very seriously..... Please call for further details this is a wonderful day out in an extraordinarily beautiful part of Wales. Obviously only available on or after the Glorious Twelfth.

Charlie, not your average horticulturist, is the proud mother of four wonderfully demanding Cocker Spaniel puppies.

Flowers and gifts are most welcome - please forward to Felin Newydd House. the practice birthing took place on Saturday night just to keep Charlie on her toes and naturally just when the mid wife had decided it was all a false alarm Mouse (the real mother) got busy turning on the real drama. A laundry of hot towels and gallons of warm water, absolutely no sleep, sadly no gas and air, 4 dogs and one bitch later, all doing very well not so sure about Charlie - she has taken the week off!

5th Place, no injuries and no exploding vehicles.

The Fox Grant Thrusters successfully completed the The Goring Hotel National Team Chase Championship 2007 except for our team leader losing a stirrup half way round (an extremely uncomfortable experience - but nothing that 7 glasses of fine port cannot remedy) Simon on Otto set the pace and we mere mortals tried to keep up, actually stirrupless-Will and I managed to overtake him at one point due to a minor speed related error, our moment of glorious independence was short lived as Simon sped past before the next fence.

A not to be guffawed at 5th place was awarded - so the 7.5 hours round trip for 4mins 34seconds of fast and furious fun was worthwhile........

Launch of Countrypad website

God Bless this website and all those who visit it. Please fire off the link to all those you know.

We are going to use this diary to let you know about various bits and pieces that are going on in and around Felin Newydd.

For example: last Sunday our jeep caught fire and blew up on the way to a Team Chase in Gloucestershire. Horses and passengers all ok - Jeep not ok!
In spite of the obvious technical difficulties we still made it to the event enabling Huw to almost break his leg but come seventh with the second team in the Open.

Adam and Lewellyn, the landscaping team, are making great progress in turning the rose garden into the Secret Cobbled Lawn ( name to be agreed and confirmed by far too many people ) Incidentally this lawn is where a marquee can be erected and attached to the house for larger parties.
